Everybody Wants Some

“Everybody Wants Some” harkens back to those college days where so little was happening that the only goal was burning time until everyone was ready to go out. The film takes place over a weekend leading up to the beginning of a new school year as a nameless baseball team whittles away their time by sitting around s–t-talking friends before hitting a variety of bars once the sun is set. There is little plot and even less stakes – the film is all vibe and it hums along perfectly, which makes it a swell spiritual successor to Richard Linklater’s “Dazed and Confused.”

Wedding Crashers

A wedding is a specific type of drinking event. Sometimes you have to dance around drinking with and around family, often times in an Avengers-like event that summons the most important people from a couples’ entire lives into one room for a celebration. It’s a recipe for a good time, if a sloppy one, and “Wedding Crashers” captures the essence and beauty of the wedding party despite the main characters never really being officially invited to the big event themselves.

The Hangover

Hangovers are among the biggest reasons not to drink in excess – but there is something horrifically beautiful in suffering through a shared hangover in the wake of a heavy night out among friends. “The Hangover” takes that to an extreme but the sentiment is still felt. A group of friends lose their friend on his bachelor party and have to sift through a variety of nonsensical clues – like a tiger in their hotel, a missing tooth, and an acquired baby – to find him before heading home.

Animal House

“Animal House” is the quintessential party movie. If it wasn’t the first to kick off the genre it certainly popularized it in the eyes of the masses. The story follows a socially lacking freshman who fails to join the polished and popular Omega Theta Pi fraternity and ends up in the party frat Delta Tau Chi. The Delta’s partying has reached the point that the school’s dean wants them removed from campus so it’s on the frat to sort out their problems with administration while balancing a “healthy” amount of drinking.

Old School

There are few better movies to watch when wanting to live vicariously through party movies than one about a group of friends who got sick of it and just went back to college for another round of fun. “Old School” became infinitely quotable for thousands the second its story about a group of older friends who end up hosting a party house near a college campus – much to the dislike of the school dean. “Old School” has been often imitated, never replicated so stick to this classic if you’re looking for something.

Can’t Hardly Wait

There’s something special about the late ’90s/early ’00s party movie. Do all the jokes hold up? Absolutely not. Are the performances great? Rarely. But they’re a time capsule of the R-rated comedy growing pains and “Can’t Hardly Wait” is the pinnacle of that time. High school is over and it’s time to enter that nebulous pre-college era for the summer. The parties are raging around graduation and a group of nerds want revenge on the meatheads who bullied them and to confess their hidden feelings to long-time crushes.

Superbad

“Superbad” has really become the go-to high school party movie despite the fact that most of the movie has the main characters just trying to get to the party. But at the end of the day it’s about the journey not the destination and the R-rated comedy makes for some of the best booze-soaked laughs you can have with a movie while you’re bravely facing Dry January.

“Bohemian Rhapsody”

Rami Malek brought the iconic life story of Queen frontman, Freddie Mercury, to life in 2018 in Bryan Singer and Dexter Fletcher’s biographical film “Bohemian Rhapsody.” The movie covers Queen’s early beginnings and rise to fame, Mercury’s departure from the group and their reunion at the Live Aid benefit concert in 1985.

“The Land Before Time”

This list had to include a movie that gives millennials all the nostalgic feels while forcing the new-age kiddos to put their tablets down. In Judy Freudberg, Tony Geiss and Don Bluth’s prehistoric tale, a young Brachiosaurus dinosaur becomes orphaned after his mother is murdered while trying to protect him from a vicious predator. The last words his mother left him with were instructions on how to get to the Great Valley, a safe haven where other dinosaurs like him live. While on his way, he and his friend Cera find friendship in fellow creatures of the land.

“Do the Right Thing”

In Spike Lee’s third feature film, Mookie (Lee) is a Black New Yorker who works at an Italian-owned pizzeria in Brooklyn and finds himself caught up in drama after a local, Buggin’ Out (Giancarlo Esposito), takes issues with the shop’s Wall of Fame because it only features Italian stars. When Buggin’ Out explains that a restaurant located in a Black neighborhood should also celebrate Black celebrities, owner Salvatore “Sal” Fragione (Danny Aiello) disagrees and refuses Buggin Out’s demands, which sparks racial tensions between the two communities. On top of that, it’s hot as hell, which only makes matters worse.

“Little Nicky”

If there’s one thing about Adam Sandler, he’s going to give you a hilariously random concept for a movie, but the bigger, thoughtful message will always hit home. After Satan’s two eldest sons Adrian (Rhys Ifans) and Cassius (Tom Lister Jr.) rebel against their father’s rule and flee to take over Earth, young and docile Nicky is tasked with restoring the balance between good and evil on the planet. However, he’ll have to do it in enough time to save his father who’s deteriorating.

“Blink Twice”

Straight from Amazon MGM Studios comes actress and filmmaker Zoë Kravitz feature film directorial debut. The thrilling tale centers on a down-on-her-luck waitress named Frida (Naomi Ackie) who takes interest in a formerly-canceled tech billionaire named Slater King (Channing Tatum). When he invites her and a group of men and women on dream vacation to his private island, nights filled with alcohol and drugs start to eerily blend together. Before it’s too late, Frida must uncover Slater’s dark secrets.

“Captain Phillips”

Director Paul Greengrass brought the true story of the 2009 Maersk Alabama hijacking to life in 2013 with “Captain Phillips.” The movie is based on Stephan Talty’s book “A Captain’s Duty.” Like any other day, the U.S. containership was sailing in the Indian Ocean when four Somali pirates boarded and took everyone hostage. In an effort to save his shipmates, Captain Richard Phillips (Tom Hanks) must find a way to ensure everyone survives.

“Foxy Brown”

Pam Grier stars as Foxy Brown, the girlfriend of an undercover cop who was killed by the mob after a smalltime hustler (Antonio Fargas) — who’s also Foxy’s brother — sold him out because he couldn’t pay back a $20,000 debt. While on a mission to get revenge, Foxy poses as a prostitute and gets help from neighborhood vigilantes.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Brad Hall

Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Brad Hall lost their home in the Pacific Palisades as a result of the Los Angeles wildfires, an individual with knowledge told TheWrap. The “SNL” alums have not yet shared any statement about the loss of their home, which was valued at $15 million according to the Daily Mail, as of Monday.

Billy Crystal

Billy Crystal and his wife were longtime Pacific Palisades residents, and sadly lost their home in the fires. “Janice and I lived in our home since 1979. We raised our children and grandchildren here,” he said in a statement to CNN. “Every inch of our house was filled with love. Beautiful memories that can’t be taken away.”

“We are heartbroken of course but with the love of our children and friends we will get through this. We pray for the safety of the fire fighters and first responders. The Pacific Palisades is a resilient community of amazing people and we know in time it will rise again. It is our home.”

Milo Ventimiglia

In a horrible case of irony, as Ventimiglia himself pointed out, life imitated art as the “This Is Us” actor who played a character who lost his home in a massive fire on TV, lost his home in real life.

“I think there’s a kind of shock moment where you’re going, ‘This is real, this is happening,’” Ventimiglia told CBS News “At a certain point, we just turned it off. What good is it to continue watching? We kind of accepted the loss.”

Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag

Spencer Pratt revealed his family also lost their home in an Instagram post.

Adam Brody and Leighton Meester

Adam Brody and Leighton Meester’s home in the Pacific Palisades was also lost in the largest of the fires.

Paris Hilton

Hilton revealed on Instagram that her Malibu home was also lost in flames, as she watched it unfold on the news.

“This home was where we built so many precious memories,” she wrote. “It’s where Phoenix took his first steps and where we dreamed of building a lifetime of memories with London. While the loss is overwhelming, I’m holding onto gratitude that my family and pets are safe.”

Anthony Hopkins

The legendary Anthony Hopkins also lost his home, sadly, with PEOPLE Magazine obtaining a photo of the ruins in Pacific Palisades. In a post to Instagram on January 10, Hopkins wrote “As we struggle to heal from the devastation of these fires, it’s important we remember that the only thing we take with us is the love we give,” alongside a handful of emojis.

Eugene Levy

Eugene Levy safely evacuated on Jan. 7 as the fires grew, but ultimately, he lost his Pacific Palisades home too. “The smoke looked pretty black and intense over Temescal Canyon,” Levy told The LA Times of what he saw while fleeing. “I couldn’t see any flames but the smoke was very dark.”

Mandy Moore

Milo Ventimiglia’s “This Is Us” co-star also had to evacuate her Altadena home in the fires, but fortunately, she and her family did not lose the whole structure. According to a post from the actress on Instagram, “Miraculously, the main part of our house is still standing. For now. It’s not livable but mostly intact.”

Miles Teller

Miles Teller and his wife were able to safely evacuate, with Keleigh Teller snapping one last photo of their home as they left. “If you’re in the LA area PLEASE get out if you can,” she wrote in the caption. “I wish I grabbed my wedding dress .. wish I did a lot different but it doesn’t matter, stay safe, get out.

Diane Warren

In a post to Instagram on Jan. 8, Warren posted a photo from her home, writing in the caption, “I’ve had this house for almost 30 years. It looks like it was lost in the fire last nite. There’s a rainbow shining on it which I’m taking as a sign of hope for all creatures who have been affected by this tragedy.”

Mel Gibson

Gibson revealed during an interview with NewsNation that his home burned down while he was away doing an appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast. ““I was kind of ill at ease while we were talking [on the podcast] because I knew my neighborhood was on fire. So I was like, ‘Eh, I wonder if my place is still there.’ But when I got home, sure enough it wasn’t there,” he said.

Jeff Bridges

According to TMZ, Jeff Bridges also lost his home in the fires.

Cary Elwes

“The Princess Bride” star Cary Elwes and his wife also lost their home, he revealed on Instagram. “Our hearts go out to all the families impacted by this tragic event and we also wish to extend our gratitude to all the firefighters, first responders and law enforcement who worked so tirelessly through the night and are still at it,” he wrote.

Cameron Mathison

“General Hospital” star Cameron Mathison posted a video walking through what used to be his home on Instagram, writing “We are safe, but this is what’s left of our beautiful home. Our home where our kids were raised and where they wanted to raise their own someday.”

Ricki Lake

The original “Hairspray” star sadly lost her home on January 7. The actress detailed the ordeal on social media posting step-by-step videos of her and her husband trying to save what they could.

Joshua Jackson

Joshua Jackson lived in Topanga Canyon but sadly, his home did not survive the Palisades fire. “First and most importantly, all the people closest to me affected by the fire are OK,” Jackson in a statement to media outlets.

“My daughter, my family, my neighbors all made it out safely. Sadly my beautiful home did not survive the fires. But today, I feel incredibly lucky to be surrounded by the people I love.”

Sarah Levy

Sarah Levy, best known for her role on “Schitt’s Creek” shared that she tragically lost her home in the Pacific Palisades fire. “Oh, my sweet home. My heart so deeply aches,” she wrote in a heartfelt Instagram post. “What I would give to hear the key slide in the front door one more time or the baby gate click behind me as I bring the laundry upstairs. “To hear the garbage truck outside every Tuesday and watch James run to the window to watch. To smell the eucalyptus and the roses and the rosemary.”

“Luckily we are all safe and if this has taught me nothing else, it’s to appreciate every last detail of your life.” the actress added. “I know we’ll be back and the Palisades will be more vibrant and lush and full of life than ever. We’ll wait until then.”

Patrick Ball as Dr. Langdon

Patrick Marron Ball stars as Dr. Langdon, Dr. Robby’s left hand next to fellow senior resident, Dr. Collins. He’s a bit curt and often too practical when it comes to dealing with patients and their fates, however, he has the potential to become a successful doctor — if he can work on that attitude of his.

Ball is a fresh face in the acting world, but his can be seen in NBC’s legal drama “Law & Order.”

Supriya Ganesh as Dr. Mohan

Supriya Ganesh plays Dr. Mohan, a third-year medical resident takes addresses her patients in a compassionate and considerate, even with the clock still quickly ticking. While she moves a bit slower than others, the ER appreciates her heightened awareness of others and their feelings.

Ganesh previously starred in “Nothing and Everything,” “The Principles of Pleasure,” “Spoiler Alert,” “Love Tooth” and more.

Fiona Dourif as Dr. McKay

Fiona Dourif stars as Dr. McKay, a 42-year-old second-year resident. The previous humbling experiences in Dr. McKay’s life have made her less judgmental of her patients’ issues and backgrounds.

Dourif, daughter of actor Brad Dourif, previously starred in the “Chucky” franchise, “Don’t Look at the Demon,” “On Fire” and more.

Taylor Dearden as Dr. King

Taylor Dearden plays Dr. King, an socially awkward second-year resident who has experience working with military veterans. Even though she may be slightly off-key when it comes to social interactions, her skills in the ER speak for themselves.

Dearden, daughter of Bryan Cranston and Robin Gale Dearden, previously starred in “Heartthrob,” “Sweet/Vicious,” “American Vandal,” “The Last Champion” and more.

Isa Briones as Dr. Santos

Isa Briones comes in as Dr. Santos. She’s an intern that’s already graduated from medical school, and she doesn’t mind letting the other residents that she’s done it all and seen it all, despite still being in her shadowing journey as a rising medical professional. Her brash and overly confident personality doesn’t always sit too well with the rest of ER staff.

Briones previously starred in “Goosebumps,” “Lonely Boy,” “Takers,” “The Brown Soup Thing” and more.

Gerran Howell as Whitaker

Gerran Howell stars as Whitaker, a fourth-year medical student who doesn’t quite display his years of experience. He lacks confidence and often beats himself up over past mistakes and doesn’t take losing a life very well. While highly intelligent and fully-equipped to do the job, the world of medicine may not be what he’s looking for after all.

Howell previously starred in “Dracula,” “Ludwig,” “Freedom’s Path,” “Young Dracula Files,” “The Song of Names” and more.

Shabana Azeez as Javadi

Shabana Azeez stars as Javadi, a 20-year-old third-year medical student who possesses all the qualities of an outstanding future physician. However, people often overlook her high level of skill and capability because of her youth.

Azeez previously starred in “Metro Sexual,” “Birdeater,” “Fate of the Night,” “Run Rabbit Run,” “In Limbo” and more.

Katherine LaNasa as Dana Evans

Katherine LaNasa stars as charge nurse, Dana Evans. She’s cool, calm and collected, which is why Dr. Robby instructs the med students to follow her command. While she mainly ensures that the emergency room has a steady flow and order, she can pick up on when staffers are in need of a break.

LaNasa previously starred in “The Campaign,” “Imposters,” “Satisfaction,” “The Squeeze,” “Longmire” and more.

97th Academy Awards Voting and Nominations Announcement

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences extended Oscar nomination voting and moved the date of the nominations announcement from Friday, Jan. 17 to Sunday, Jan. 19. The change was announced Wednesday afternoon in an email to members from AMPAS CEO Bill Kramer. Voting, which began on Wednesday morning and had been scheduled to end on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 12, is now extended by two days and will close on Tuesday, Jan. 14. 

Los Angeles Rams NFL Wild Card Game Against Minnesota Vikings

The National Football League said Thursday that Monday’s Wild Card game between the Los Angeles Rams and Minnesota Vikings will be relocated out of L.A. Initially scheduled for Monday at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, the league explained that the game will now take place at State Farm Stadium, home of the Arizona Cardinals.

In the interest of public safety, Monday’s Vikings-Rams Wild Card game has been moved from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California to State Farm Stadium, the home of the Arizona Cardinals, the NFL announced today. 

The decision was made in consultation with public officials, the participating clubs and the NFLPA.

The game will be television on ESPN, ABC, ESPN+ and ESPN Deportes at its scheduled 8:00 p.m. ET time. 

Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. PT Friday morning through Seatgeek.com for Rams Season Ticket Members and noon PT to the general public. More information on ticket sales will be provided as soon as possible. 

“Severance” Season 2 L.A. Premiere

Apple TV+ canceled its “Severance” Season 2 premiere event on Thursday, which was scheduled to be held in Los Angeles on Monday.

“As devastating wildfires continue to impact the Los Angeles area, and with safety as our first and foremost priority, we have made the decision to cancel Monday’s Severance’ Season 2 premiere event,” a spokesperson for the streamer said. “Apple is donating to support the relief efforts on the ground and our thoughts and heartfelt support remain with everyone who has been affected by these tragic fires.”

GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics pushed back their annual film awards voting and nominations announcement. Voting for the Dorian Awards will now take place on Monday, Jan 13. and the nominees will be announced on Friday, Jan. 17. Voting was originally set to close on Friday, Jan. 10.

Los Angeles Lakers’ Jan. 9 Home Game Against the Charlotte Hornets

The National Basketball Association postponed the Thursday night game due at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena between the L.A. Lakers and Charlotte Hornets.

“The National Basketball Association game scheduled for tonight between the Charlotte Hornets and Los Angeles Lakers at Crypto.com Arena has been postponed due to the ongoing wildfires in the Los Angeles area,” the organization wrote on X. “The date for the rescheduled game will be announced at a later time.

“The entire NBA family sends its thoughts and support to the community of Los Angeles during this challenging time. We are grateful for the thousands of local firefighters and first responders who have demonstrated enormous bravery. Our prayers remain with those affected by the unimaginable devastation caused by the wildfires.”

36th Producers Guild of America Awards Nominations

The Producers Guild of America announced Thursday morning that they would extend voting for this year’s awards due to the Los Angeles wildfires. The voting window for the PGA Awards is extended two days to Saturday, Jan. 11 while the nominations announcement has been delayed to Sunday, Jan. 12. Voting was originally due to close on Thursday at 2 p.m. PT with nominations announced on Friday.

77th Writers Guild of America Awards Nominations

UPDATED: The Writers Guild of America announced Monday that the 77th WGA Awards nominations announcement was again postponed “until further notice” amid the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires.

“Due to ongoing wildfires in the Los Angeles area, we will be delaying the announcement of Writers Guild Award nominees until further notice,” a spokesperson said. “No further comments at this time.”

ORIGINAL: The Writers Guild Awards announced Wednesday that their nominations announcement for the 2025 ceremony, scheduled for Thursday, had been pushed to the following week. Nominations for the 2024-25 film and TV awards season will now be announced on Jan. 13.

“With Los Angeles under a state of emergency due to multiple wildfires, we will be delaying the announcement of nominees until Monday, January 13, 2025,” the WGA and WGA East said in a joint statement. The 77th Writers Guild of America Awards are set for Feb. 15.

AARP’s Annual Movies for Grownups Awards

AARP’s Awards show dedicated to movies for grownups, by grownups, advocating for the 50-plus audience, fighting industry ageism and encouraging films and TV shows that resonate with older viewers was postponed on Wednesday afternoon.

“Due to the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles and in consideration of the families and communities impacted, we will postpone AARP’s Annual Movies for Grownups Awards originally scheduled to take place Saturday, January 11, 2025 in Beverly Hills. We extend our sympathies to all who are affected. AARP will provide a new date and time for the awards as soon as possible,” read the statement.

Critics Choice Awards

The Critics Choice Awards have been postponed as the Los Angeles wildfires continue to grow. The 30th annual awards ceremony was scheduled to take place on Sunday, Jan. 12 from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. A new date has yet to be announced.

“This unfolding tragedy has already had a profound impact on our community. All our thoughts and prayers are with those battling the devastating fires and with all who have been affected,” said CCA CEO Joey Berlin.

‘Back in Action’ New York City Premiere

The New York City premiere of the Netflix film “Back in Action” was canceled. “Due to the tragic fires we will be canceling our ‘Back in Action’ New York City premiere. We recognize many in our industry and their loved ones are currently affected and our thoughts are with them at this time,” Netflix said in a statement. “We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.”

Roadside Attractions’ ‘The Last Show Girl’ Premiere

Pamela Anderson’s “The Last Showgirl” premiere was canceled Wednesday morning, shortly after the actress received a SAG Award nomination for her acclaimed performance in the drama. “In light of the devastation in LA County, and out of an abundance of caution for everyone involved, the Los Angeles premiere for Roadside Attractions’ ‘The Last Showgirl’ has been cancelled,” said a statement. “We are thankful to all first responders and our thoughts are with the people being affected.”

Bleeker Street’s ‘Love Me’ Special Screening

A special Academy Museum screening and filmmaker Q&A for the Kristen Stewart and Steven Yeun sci-fi romance “Love Me” was postponed until further notice on Wednesday morning. The event was originally scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 9.

American Cinematheque’s Tribute to the Crafts

American Cinematheque’s fourth annual Tribute to the Crafts, which was scheduled for Thursday at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, has been postponed as of Wednesday morning. The event is set to honor the craftspeople behind the films “The Fall Guy,” “Emilia Pérez,” “Dune: Part Two,” “Saturday Night,” “Nickel Boys,” “Wicked,” “The Substance,” “Will & Harper” and “Challengers,” in categories ranging from stunts to sound to score.

AFI’s Awards Luncheon

The AFI Award luncheon scheduled for Friday was postponed Wednesday morning. “Given the tragedies that prevail in Los Angeles, the spirit of community we strive for at AFI Awards will be unachievable on Friday – and so we will be postponing the event,” a representative for AFI said in a statement.

BAFTA’s Tea Party

Another FYC event scrapped amid the fires, the BAFTA Tea Party was cancelled Wednesday morning. “In light of the dangerous winds and wildfires in Los Angeles, we are cancelling this weekend’s BAFTA Tea Party,” BAFTA said in a statement. “The safety of our colleagues, friends and peers in Los Angeles remains our utmost priority and our thoughts are with everyone impacted.”

Amazon’s ‘On Call’ Premiere

Prime Video’s new Dick Wolf-produced cop drama starring Troian Bellisario, Brandon Larracuente, Eriq La Salle, Lori Loughlin and Rich Ting cancelled its Hollywood premiere on Wednesday morning, ahead of the series’ Thursday debut.

In-Person SAG Award Nominations

Though SAG Award nominations were still announced Wednesday morning, the in-person nominations set to be hosted by Joey King and Cooper Koch were cancelled the night before.

“In an abundance of caution for the safety of our presenters, guests, and staff, the live in-person 31st Annual SAG Awards nominations announcement has been cancelled due to the wildfires and adverse wind conditions in Los Angeles,” the guild said in a statement Tuesday.

Max’s ‘The Pitt’ Premiere

Max’s new medical drama “The Pitt,” starring “Noah Wyle” of “ER” fame, also canceled Tuesday night in advance of its Wednesday premiere.

“Out of an abundance of caution due to the ongoing Palisades Fire and continued wind advisories through tomorrow, we are canceling Wednesday’s premiere event for The Pitt,” Max representatives said in a separate statement. “The safety and well-being of our attendees, staff, and community are our top priority. We are grateful for the first responders bravely working to protect our community, and our thoughts are with those affected.”

Paramount’s ‘Better Man’ Premiere

The Robbie Williams biopic is making its stateside debut later this week, but the Wednesday Los Angeles premiere was canceled on Tuesday night.

“Due to the dangerous conditions affecting Los Angeles we are canceling tomorrow’s premiere of ‘Better Man.’ Our thoughts are with those impacted by the devastating fires resulting from these conditions, and we encourage everyone to stay safe and follow guidance and orders from local officials and government agencies,” a Paramount Pictures spokesperson said in a statement

Columbia Pictures’ ‘Saturday Night’ FYC Event

An FYC event in West Hollywood for Jason Reitman’s “SNL” behind-the-scenes biopic “Saturday Night” was canceled on Tuesday.

“Out of an abundance of caution due to the severe winds and fires we’re experiencing, we’ve decided to cancel this evening’s reception. On behalf of Columbia Pictures and the filmmakers, we send our sincerest apologies and regrets. We hope we can raise a toast with you to ‘Saturday Night’s’ incredible artisans another time!” read a statement.

Universal’s ‘Wolf Man’ Premiere

Another splashy premiere was cancelled Tuesday night: “Wolf Man,” the latest take on the Universal Monster classic from “The Invisible Man” director Leigh Whannell, starring Julia Garner and Christopher Abbott. Universal pulled the film’s TCL Chinese Theatre premiere due to the weather.

“Tonight’s premiere of ‘Wolf Man’ is cancelled due to sensitivities around the worsening weather situation in LA and related evacuations,” said a Universal spokesperson.

Amazon’s ‘Unstoppable’ Premiere

The Los Angeles premiere for Jennifer Lopez and Jharrel Jerome’s “Unstoppable” was the first major Hollywood event to halt on Tuesday as the Pacific Palisades fire and Santa Ana winds forced Amazon to cancel.

“In light of today’s safety concerns around heightened wind activity and fire outbreaks in Los Angeles, we regret to inform you that we are cancelling tonight’s premiere of ‘Unstoppable,’” Amazon MGM Studios announced. “As much as we were looking forward to celebrating this wonderful and inspiring film with you, safety is our first priority.”

“Wicked” at The Pantages

The Wednesday night performance of “Wicked” at the Pantages Theater scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. curtain was canceled due to the wildfires. The theater informed ticket holders they would receive a refund automatically and they planned to resume shows on Thursday.

“The safety of our patrons, staff, cast and crew is top priority. Our hearts are with all those affected by these unfortunate events, and we extend our thanks to all the first responders and firefighters aiding our affected communities.”

NBCUniversal’s Backlot Pass Press Event

A press day at the Universal lot in Burbank scheduled for Monday, Jan. 13, where the company planned to preview shows, including NBC’s “Suits: LA” and Peacock’s “The Traitors” Season 3, was postponed in light of the wildfires.
